Aylsham FC U13 v New Buckenham U13, Youngs Park

Aylsham FC U13 returned to familiar surroundings as they welcomed New Buckenham U13 to Youngs Park for their latest Norfolk Combined Youth Football League Premiership fixture this morning (Sunday 7th October).

New Buckenham kicked off but Aylsham pressed immediately to win a throw-in that Adam took with Brad flicking the ball onto Josh who tried to return it but his pass was blocked. The loose ball was won by Freddy, finding Mitchy on the left and his first-time cross was controlled by Brad with his left foot before an acrobatic overhead kick with his right to give Aylsham a spectacular 1st minute lead.

This very much set the tone for the game as Aylsham looked to move the ball quickly and use their wide players. A great ball from Josh in the centre of midfield set Mitchy away down the left and his cross-shot narrowly evaded the far post and just in front of Jack rushing up in support. In the 5th minute the hosts doubled their advantage as Adam was first to a clearance, picking out Josh in space squaring it to Jude. In turn the ball was moved forwards to Freddy who flicked it into the box where a defender couldn’t quite clear it and Brad reacted quickest, placing a right footed shot past the diving keeper and in off the far post. Three minutes later Brad almost got his third after Jude combined well with Jack who lifted the ball into Brad’s path but while he raced clear of the defence, the visiting keeper came off his line quickly to smother the ball as the striker looked to finish.

Aylsham continued to attack with pace and purpose and the New Buckenham goalkeeper made another smart save low down from a shot by Freddy. In the 10th minute a long ball from the visitors threatened to breach the home side’s backline but Bailey took control, charging out to claim the ball just before a striker could get to it. In the 11th minute it was 3-0 Aylsham after Jude and Tyler linked up well down the left to find Mitchy in space out wide and although his cross evaded everyone in the middle, Jack controlled it well on the right side of the box. Jack immediately crashed in a shot that beat the keeper but rebounded off the bar, fortunately for the home side Freddy was on hand to nod the ball into the net from close range.

As the game entered the 14th minute Aylsham scored again. Ollie was given time on the ball and he threaded a pass into Josh’s feet in the centre circle. Josh drove forward and with no opponents coming his way, took a shot from midway inside the New Buckenham half that flew over the keeper and into the net. Moments later the hosts created another chance after Tyler and Mitchy linked up well to give Josh space to move into before lifting the ball out to the right where Jack let the pass run across himself, firing a volley that the keeper held well. In the 21st minute Jack went even closer after being sent clear by a wonderful through-ball from Josh. Jack accelerated away from the defence and drew the keeper before placing his shot past the stopper but saw his effort rebound off the post with Mitchy’s follow-up shot dropping wide.

Aylsham made their first substitution as Denver came on for Josh in the centre of midfield. In the 24th minute, Aylsham furthered their advantage after Jude was first to a New Buckenham clearance. Adam made himself an option and he was found before lifting the ball out to Jack on the right who took three players out with his pass inside to Jude who had continued his run. Jude played a beautiful reverse pass that set Brad through on goal and, while his shot was parried, he showed quick reactions to keep the ball alive, laying it back to Freddy who blasted it home from close range. A minute later Aylsham were threatening again as Jude won a header directing the ball to Freddy who played Jack through with an incisive pass but the wide-man’s low shot flew inches wide of the far post. Two minutes later another slick move almost lead to another Aylsham goal. Tyler intercepted well and found Mitchy on the left who beat his man before playing a neat one-two with Denver. The winger sent in a dangerous cross that Freddy met but directed his firm header just wide.

Mitchy made way for Ronnie who took up his position wide left and he was immediately into the action in the build up to Aylsham’s sixth goal. Jaiden started the move, intercepting a long ball before squaring it to Adam who played a neat one-two with Denver and moved it to Jude who played it back to Tyler. Tyler drove forward into space, finding Freddy who flicked it into Ronnie’s path. The substitute beat two players on his way into the box before laying it back to Jude who took a touch with his right foot before unleashing a left footed shot from the edge of the area into the corner of the net.

In the 29th minute Jude and Denver linked up well with Denver playing the ball into space behind the fullback where Jack got into an advanced position to put in a great cross right onto Brad’s head but his powerful header flew just wide of the upright. One minute later Aylsham scored again with another excellent team goal. Bailey came off his line quickly to clear a New Buckenham thorough-ball straight to Jack on the right who took a good first touch before releasing Denver who broke forward and took his time waiting for support which came in the shape of Brad as he received the pass, dropped his shoulder to beat two defenders before burying the ball into the back of the net to complete his hat-trick.

Just before the break Denver lifted the ball forward where Freddy took a fantastic first touch to bring it under control but saw his left footed shot well saved by the New Buckenham goalkeeper. There was still time for one more chance as Tyler and Jaiden played out from the back to find Jude in space. Jude looked up to lift a superb ball over into Freddy’s path and he didn’t need to break his stride but while his shot beat the keeper it bounced back off the post and behind as the whistle blew to signal the end of a half dominated by the home side, leading 7-0 at the break.

Aylsham kicked off the second period and were on the offensive straight from the restart and enjoyed plenty of possession and spent much of the opening exchanges in the New Buckenham half. In the 42nd minute the hosts scored their eighth with another well worked goal. Jaiden was first to a long ball and played it forward where Denver was strongest to lay the ball back to Jude who passed it square to Tyler. Tyler returned it to Jude but with nothing on played it backwards to the left-back. Tyler looked up and arrowed a perfect pass into Jack’s path who let it bounce before executing the perfect volley rocketing the ball past the keeper into the top corner of the net from the right hand side of the area.

The home team continued on their search for goals and in the 44th minute Aylsham won a corner that Mitchy went across to take. The  inswinging centre was dangerous with Jude running onto it to deflect the ball into the net making it 9-0 to the hosts. Jack and Brad came off being replaced by Josh and Mitchy as the home side rang the changes. A minute later Aylsham made it double figures after Adam won the ball to find Josh on the right who played it quickly into Mitchy switching play to Tyler on the left. Tyler beat his man and played in a low cross that Mitchy stretched for but his defender blocked. While still on the floor Mitchy did well to protect the ball and was able to poke it towards Freddy who side-footed it home for the second hat-trick of the game.

Three minutes later Freddy repaid the favour turning provider for Mitchy. A New Buckenham ball over the top was well judged by Ollie who launched it forward for Freddy to chase and he turned his marker who had matched him stride for stride to slip the ball through to Mitchy who buried the ball into the back of the net with a clinical left footed finish. Straight from kick-off Aylsham won back possession and another lovely move from left to right moved the ball to Josh who stung the hands of the goalkeeper who held well. New Buckenham fashioned themselves a chance as their striker blocked a clearance and raced through and shot for goal but Bailey was equal to it, pulling off a diving stage and holding on confidently.

In the 52nd minute it became 12-0 after neat interplay between Josh, Adam and Mitchy moved the ball to Jude on the edge of the visitor’s area and he moved it left to Ronnie who lifted a perfectly weighted through-ball where Josh had continued his run and he made no mistake lifting it over the advancing goalkeeper for another well worked goal. New Buckenham didn’t let their heads drop and worked it well to threaten the Aylsham goal and Jaiden had to put in a perfectly timed challenge in the box to prevent a shooting opportunity.

Ollie took a knock so Brad came back on in the centre of midfield with Denver switching to centre-back. In the 60th minute Aylsham had the ball in the net again after Jaiden and Tyler combined well to snuff out a promising attack. Tyler found Freddy in space and he played it first time to Ronnie on the left who played a lovely through-ball to set Mitchy away and he accelerated clear before placing a low left footed finish into the corner in off the post. Mitchy almost scored the third hat-trick of the match as he was onto a misplaced pass from the restart and went round the keeper but put his shot agonisingly wide.

Jack came back on for Freddy for the last 10 minutes and Aylsham almost scored again after Ronnie intercepted a goal kick but his shot from distance flew just over the bar. Josh found Jack in a good position on the right and Jack lifted it first-time to Brad who took a great first touch before unleashing a fierce shot that the visiting keeper did brilliantly to parry and then gather. Brad went close again a few minutes later after a long throw from Adam was helped on by Mitchy in the box and Brad’s backheeled volley dropped inches wide of the far post. Brad continued to plug away with another couple of chances being blocked and well saved but he wasn’t to be outdone with three minutes left. Mitchy swung in a corner from the left and Jude touched it to the edge of the area where Brad struck a fantastic shot up and over a crowded box of players into the roof of the net.

A few more chances came and went for Aylsham as they finished the game very much on top. The whistle blew to signal the end of the match dominated by Aylsham throughout taking the three points after a convincing 14-0 victory.
