The 2025/26 season was another massive step forward for Aylsham Town FC.
To finish 5th in a tough, competitive league with 45 points, a positive goal difference and some huge performances along the way is something everybody connected with the club should be proud of.
Looking back, the biggest thing this season showed was how far this group has come. The standards, the mentality and the togetherness around the squad have all continued to grow.
There were some brilliant moments throughout the year. Big wins against sides like UEA, Watton United, Easton and Beccles Town showed what this team is capable of when we play with intensity, confidence and belief. The 7-0 win against UEA and 7-1 against Watton were standout nights, but there were also some massive performances away from home where the lads had to really dig in and show character.
Like every season, there were tough moments too. We had games where things didn’t go our way, difficult afternoons against strong sides and periods where we had to grind. But one thing this group has shown consistently is resilience. The lads never stopped working, never stopped competing and always stayed together.
Tactically, we evolved a lot throughout the season. We changed systems, adapted to different opposition and asked players to play different roles at times and the commitment from the squad throughout all of that was outstanding. Whether we were trying to dominate games, sit in and frustrate teams, or go toe to toe with the league’s best sides, the players always gave everything.
The togetherness within the group has been one of the biggest positives all season. Players stepping up when needed, lads playing through knocks, others being patient and ready when called upon — that attitude has been massive for us.
Off the pitch, the support around the club continues to grow. From volunteers, committee members and sponsors to everybody who comes down and supports us week in, week out — it genuinely makes a difference and helps drive the club forward.
A year or so ago we were still trying to work out exactly where we were and where we wanted to go. Now there’s a real belief around the place. Expectations have changed because the players have earned that through their performances and attitude.
This season won’t be remembered as perfect, because no season ever is, but it should absolutely be recognised as progress. Real progress.
The challenge now is to keep pushing, keep improving and keep raising standards again next season.
Thank you to everyone who backed us this year.
