Everyone at Aylsham Football Club is absolutely delighted — and incredibly proud — to share the news that former Aylsham player Ajay Taveras has completed a move to FC Barcelona.
Ajay began his football journey with us at Youngs Park, where he quickly stood out not only for his talent, but for his attitude, competitiveness and love for the game. To see a player who started here go on to sign for one of the biggest clubs in world football is a special moment for our club, and a real reminder of what grassroots football can help unlock.
After progressing from Aylsham FC, Ajay moved into the Norwich City Academy, where his development accelerated rapidly. He played above his age group, featured at Under-18 level, and went on to represent England at U15, U16 and U17.
Ajay has spoken about how excited he is for this next stage of his journey in Spain, and we know everyone connected to Aylsham FC will be following his progress with huge interest — and plenty of pride.
A special mention goes to those who supported Ajay in his early years, including his coaches at Aylsham FC. Former coach Simon Gotterson remembers Ajay as a player who was a joy to work with — determined, powerful, balanced, and capable of producing moments of real quality.
While Ajay’s move to Barcelona is an incredible achievement, it’s also a moment we can all take pride in as a club and community. From Mini Kickers right through to our senior sides, we aim to provide a positive environment where players can enjoy football, develop, and believe in what’s possible.
