Aylsham FC AGM – Report

Youngs Park hosted the Aylsham FC Annual General meeting last night (18th October).

Chairman Ian Potter (who was reelected) spoke of his pride at how the club had navigated through the challenging Covid period and was keen to thank the volunteers who made it possible.

He emphasised that without this small army of people who give up their time then the club wouldn’t be what it is today.

However, the need for more volunteers to step forward is apparent. This will help to support the continuing growth of Aylsham FC and and Youngs Park.

It’s fantastic that Youngs Park is full of smiling faces again and that we have been able to extend this season into May.

Hopefully we can welcome family, friends and supporters back very soon. We have missed you!

We just wanted to say a massive thank you to the 21 people who have now donated their £35 credit we offered towards next seasons youth fees.  Its been a difficult time for many in our community financially, and for us at Aylsham FC we have had little opportunity to raise vital funds as a volunteer organisation.

Thankfully over 20 people have already donated their £35 credit to the club and we are extremely grateful.

There is still time to donate all, or part of your credit to the club before it is issued at the end of the month, if you so wish.

Please email chairman@aylshamfc.co.uk as soon as possible and we will arrange it.

Social media boycott – Weekend of Action

Alongside the Premier League and EFL, The FA are asking clubs across the Women’s football pyramid, National Football League and grassroots game to join the ‘social media switch off’ over the weekend of 30 April – 3 May 2021. Recognising a unified approach will deliver much greater impact and reinforce the collective fight against discrimination in all its forms.

Aylsham FC will stand together with English football by turning off all social media channels during this period and redirect club members, players and parents to other club and FA platforms.

 

Youth football to return with credit towards next season

As a community club, we are acutely aware of how difficult the last few months have been for many families.

We are all committed to getting back to football safely from the 29th March and to focus on our young players so they can have some “football fun” over the coming weeks.  Whether it be training, friendlies, round robin(s) or small events, we will do our best to get everyone playing football – subject to Government and FA advice.

You may be aware that the NYCL have already made the decision to void all leagues and have intimated they are planning to continue some cup competitions.  We are waiting for the NW&GL to confirm their intentions.

In recognition of the unique circumstances of this season, we have decided to automatically credit every youth player (who has paid their fees in full) with £35 towards next season’s overall payment**.  This represents just over 40% of the training fees. If you feel you are able to donate all or part of this credit to the club funds, we would be extremely grateful.  Please email chairman@aylshamfc.co.uk for us to remove your planned credit by 31st May (ideally ASAP).

As a volunteer organisation, it is worth highlighting our costs have remained broadly similar for the season, with the majority of our income historically coming from player fees, summer tournaments and the generosity of the local business sponsors and advertisers.

We hope to see you at Youngs Park very soon.

** Note: For the current under 16 players, we hope you will continue into U18 or adult football. This credit will automatically apply to your future fees.  If you decide to stop playing football, your fee can be refunded on request via chairman@aylshamfc.co.uk

 

A thanks from Barnsley FC

As you have probably seen we were lucky enough to host Championship side Barnsley for a training session prior to their match against Norwich at Carrow Road.

They have been in touch since with a nice note to our Chairman Ian Potter:

Hi Ian,

I apologise for my severely delayed response time here.

Again a massive thank you for from everyone at Barnsley FC for your hospitality and accommodating us on such short notice and given the circumstances.

Everything was absolutely perfect and worked so smoothly for us.

Shame the result went against us but Norwich were deserved winners in my opinion. We have just drawn them again, this time at home, in the FA Cup strangely enough!

I have also attached the footage that our coach driver shot from his drone. I thought it was really cool and might be valuable to you for use on your platforms.

All the very best and if you are ever up North please do let us know so we can get you back to a match at Oakwell.

Good praise for our club.

Youngs Park celebrates its fifth Birthday on Saturday 21st November.

Although we are closed due to the current restrictions, I would like to raise a toast to all the volunteers who have contributed to make it happen and everyone who has volunteered or helped in some way, on or off the pitch. These people make it such a special place for Aylsham FC and our community.

Without the volunteers, committee members, players, coaches, user groups, business sponsors and advertisers, it would just be a building with no soul.

For so many it represents a place to be proud of in our community; a place for football, a place for family and friends and a place for sharing with everyone.

As it’s important to always look to the future, it’s great to read that Youngs Park and Aylsham FC are highlighted in the Football Foundation and Norfolk FA ten year strategic plan for 3G pitch investment.

Aylsham FC Ltd Covid 19 Risk Assessment

This is our generic risk assessment which identifies the common hazards and risks associated with training, coaching sessions and matches organised by Aylsham FC Ltd.

Before use, AFC volunteers will also assess any special risks that are specific for their particular session, the venue and players.

Any accident / incident that occurs will be recorded in the Youngs Park incident book and immediately reported to the Club Chairman.

The Risk Assessment must also be read and agreed in conjunction with the Aylsham Community Sports Ltd (Youngs Park) risk assessment who operate the building and follow the latest Covid19 procedures and rules communicated by the Government and Football Association.

Cup glory for under 7s

Our under 7s Falcons had a cup final to remember recently when they ran out 6-1 winners against Horsford.

The win included a five goal haul from Dexter with Sonny scoring the other.

The remarkable thing about this game was that the team were actually losing 1-0. But their heads didn’t drop and the win rounded off a brilliant performance.

The players were delighted when Taylor, the captain lifted the Kappa Cup.
